Watts' Sports Exhibit Featured at College Station Art Center

College Station, TX -- The Benjamin Knox Art Center hosted Oswego,KS sports artist Ted Watts as their inaugural guest visiting exhibitor at the Grand Opening of their College Station train depot facility last week. A VIP reception preceded the Friday evening ribbon cutting.

The program was highlighted by "An Evening with the Artist", an exhibit of over 30 Watts' originals, and Ted's unveiling and presentation of his latest work, a new portrait of John David Crow, Texas A&M's only Heisman Trophy winner and a former A&M athletic director.

Watts is most famous nationally for his stunning art portrait series of all of the Heisman Trophy Winners on display in the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana. A replica of Crow's Heisman portrait from that series was also a feature of the Knox Art Center exhibit.

Benjamin Knox Art Center is a replica of thevintage College Station train depot and includes an art gallery, exhibit rooms, a retail shop, matting and framing services and additional space for event rentals capable of hosting socials including live music, dining and dance.

While in College Station for the event, Ted and Anita visited long time Watts' friend, Texas A&M head football coach Dennis Franchione and his staff in their Kyle Field offices.

Franchione, a Girard native and Watts are both Pittsburg State University alums. Franchione was head football coach of the Pitt State Gorillas from 1985-89 compiling an amazing 53-6 record in five years at his alma mater.

Bob Hawkins of Georgetown, Texas, a 1972 Oswego High School graduate, arranged the Knox Art Center exhibit of Watts' works. Hawkins and Watts are business associates with Bob representing Ted in sales of both featured original art work and reproductions at the show.

The Knox Art Center exhibit of Watts work will be on display through November 25.
